Hey everyone, As you may know, the new version of LimeSurvey is here! We made several changes to the user interface to improve the user experience. So we have been working on making the first steps in terms of stabilizing and improving the user interface. More enhancements are on the way, we will keep you posted. The following is the new UI design changelog for the latest version of LimeSurvey. We will update you on even more changes to the user interface and other new features in future articles. Below you will find the major user interface improvements to help you get started quickly and easily. Enjoy! “Create survey” shortcut in main navigation You just want to get going and cut to the chase? Great, just choose the first item from the main navigation and you’re ready to go. One click and you are exactly where you want to be, the survey section. Modals (Pop-Ups) All pop-ups in the application now have the same style and are built according to a certain structure to make the whole workflow more user-friendly. Page headers To get a better understanding of where you are in the application we have introduced green banners at the top of every screen of the application. Top bar The most important action buttons have been moved to the top bar and the amount of action buttons has been reduced to the essentials. Action buttons All action buttons are now styled in the same way and one specific action will always have the same icon associated with it for consistency. The most important actions are consistently positioned in the same location, to the left of the top bar. Furthermore, the most important action buttons have been moved to the left-hand side of all tables and we brought consistency in terms of icons, hovers, margins and the order of buttons. Additionally, small text balloons will appear when hovering over them, explaining the functionality of the concerning button. Tables All tables now have a new grid view class and are consistently styled and structured. You will find all buttons to help you see more information or make edits on the far left-hand side of the table. This helps you better manage your surveys, data and survey participants. Icons and small elements Three different icons for a single functionality like “Save”? No thanks! One icon is associated with exactly one functionality to make the design more accessible. The consistency makes for a better user experience. We also synchronized other small elements like dropdown-menu icons, page buttons of tables, main navigation elements and notifications. Pagination Under every table of the application you can now find consistent pagination to the far right-hand side. You can determine how many items you want your table to show you and, by doing so, customize your survey management. We hope you enjoy the new version! Now it is even easier to turn your questions into answers. We will update this changelog with more content whenever there are new elements to the user interface.More blog posts with specifics about these improvements and other changes to the user interface will follow in the upcoming period, so stay tuned. Have a nice day, everybody!

We just created a new mailing list for translators of PHPSurveyor. It was necessary since we needed a way to send notifications prior to upcoming releases or website news - so news can be translated/PHPSurveyor translations can be updated by the translators right in time for release. In the past this has not been coordinated at all which led to website news not being translated for several weeks and/or incomplete language translations in releases. So, if you are doing translations in the PHPSurveyor project, please register with this translator mailing list. If you want to join this project and translate PHPSurveyor to your language then please use the instructions provided here and get in touch with us!

To shorten the waiting time for the next big alpha version (which will have a lot of new features) we decided to release a small update to the previous alpha version. This update includes small fixes but most importantly huge performance improvements. In some sections of the code it is up to 80% faster now when displaying the survey pages. This was possible thanks to Shawn Wales optimizing and testing intensively. As always any feedback on these performance improvements are welcome! If you like to give it a shot please head over to the download section! {mos_sb_discuss:6}

PHPSurveyor 1.0 is the culmination of 6 months of development and bugfixing for PHPSurveyor since the "stable" release of 0.99. The code itself has only changed slightly. We still tried to raise the stability of the codebase by keeping new features to a minimum. So expect the most stable release of PHPSurveyor ever! However you can expect some nice and shiny features like: MySQL 5 compatibility Relaying of emails over SMTP server Change survey sent/taken from "Y" to the date: When reviewing the tokens display, the fields telling if the survey request was sent, and the survey taken, display a N or Y. This was changed to be the actual date this event took place. This is giving some significant additional information to the survey author. (Patch by Thomas Ringate / tringate!) New global option that allows the administrator to specify what is the minimum number of remaining answers in an 'array - flexible' question that must be remaining before repeating the question headings. This avoids that the headings of the question are repeated if only a few answers are remaining. (Patch by Kris Ven !) Additionally we updated and added new languages which where kindly provided by numerous people: Updated slovenian language file Updated dutch language file Updated french language files & instructions by Sébastien Gaugry Updated french language file by Pascal Bastien Added croatian language file by Ivana Pavic Added Japanese translation by Masaru Ryumae Added Greek translation file by Artemis Mendrinos Added Romanian translation by Bogdan Anastasiei Added Swedish translation of administration by Niklas Andersson Updated spanish translation by Juan Rafael Fernàndez Updated russian translation by Alexander Shilov Hope you enjoy this release of PHPSurveyor. Thanks to all the assistance, words of encouragement, suggestions, bug notifications and general help provided by the PHPSurveyor community. Especially we want to thank the people who did donations in the way of contributions to the code or translations - not to forget the one who appreciated PHPSurveyor so much that they donated money to the project. This money will be partially used to implement new features after 1.0. Besides that we are looking forward to your future contributions for further languages, themes and/or patches!
