FunctionStatic plugin

From LimeSurvey Manual

 Hint: This feature is available starting in version 5.3.12

Usage

The getStatic() Expression Script function freezes the value of an expression so it no longer updates live in the browser as the participant changes their answers — it is only recalculated by the server the next time the page reloads. This is useful when you want to capture what a value was at an earlier point, to compare it against its current, live value.

The function takes one parameter: the expression to freeze.

  Before using this function, the plugin must be activated in Plugin Manager.

Example

  • Get the value of the current question as it was when the page was loaded (its default value, or its previous answer if the participant navigated back): getStatic(self.shown)
  • Show a message only if the participant has changed their answer since the page loaded: {if(getStatic(self.shown) == self.shown, "", "You have updated your answer.")}
