problem with Exporting answers ! !

Hello all,

I run a survey, until now it s going well. I was able to export the result to excel or csv file with no problem until 13 July. I tried to do the same today and I cant !! when I choose export to excel it returns this message

"File not found

Firefox can't find the file at http://__________.gr/arch/admin/admin.php?action=exportresults.

Check the file name for capitalization or other typing errors.
Check to see if the file was moved, renamed or deleted."

I dont understand which file is searching. It must create a file not searching for one...right ???

The excel/csv document is created locally on the server and then sent to browser. This error can be cause be many things.

The server could have been updated or some security setting were changed. The administrator of the webserver limesurvey is installed on might be able to fix this quick. He will know if something changed between 13.July and today.

Which Limesurvey Version and build are you using (look at the bottom of limesurvey in your browserwindow)?

Try to export the data in spss format. Same error?

I tried exporting to spss before, it looks ok even though i dont have spss so i couldnt test the files, but it didnt return any error message.

I use a version of 1.9 ..... plus..i am not able to check it now because i cant even connect to limesurvey, it returns the message "could not connect to remote server"

I ll try later...hoping that I will not lose anything !!!

hello all,

I have the same problem again....I cant export my results in excel format. I was trying all day yesterday, I tried again few minutes ago, the same message

I use the version 1.91+ Build 10232 and the survey is hosted in my brother;s server, where there are other sites that work fine, so the problem is not in the server...

Could you please help me ?
It's very pity to have a high response rate and not to be able to get the responses..

Well. Too unspecific error message to get a quick fix.

1.) Did you test it with a different browser? On a different PC?
2.) Try to export results in SPSS/R Dataformat. Is that working?
3.) Update Limesurvey (I haven't see a closed which directly relates to your problem, but it might help).
4.) Ask your brother if he changed some security settings Apache, PHP etc.) Every software reacts different to such settings.

1) yes i tried, same problem
2) it does export in spss but I dont have spss software and i wont use it so it s useless for me
3) the survey is still running and will be running until end of september, i dont want to risk it by updating
4) i asked him he didnt change anything !

Did you try in csv ?

Did you have access on apache error log ?

Maybe some memory more for apache.

If your survey is big, then the file can be long to produce py the server, and maybe need some memory.

Can you tell us the phpconfig part:
/admin/admin.php?action=globalsettings ShowPHPInfo button
max_execution_time
memory_limit

And maybe if you find some suhosin etc part.

from opera browser the message is

"Remote server or file not found

Check that the address is spelled correctly, or try searching for the site."

the problem I mentioned happened suddenly after 20 days of normal performance. I was exporting the responses twice per day without any problem. I didnt change anything in the survey or the settings, my brother didnt change anything in the server settings and SUDDENLY one day it doesnt work !!!!

if there was a problem in the installation I wouldnt have been able to export the responses from the very first day, right ?
this is not my case..

another idea/solution please ???
