Hello,

We are facing an issue related to the general configuration of LimeSurvey regarding the sending of emails via SMTP.

Our SMTP server administrator requires that the email address used for the "FROM" field be the same as the one used for authentication with the SMTP server.

The LimeSurvey instance connects with an account defined in the general settings. However, each administrator has the option to enter a different email address. This creates a problem for sending emails because the two addresses do not match.

For example:
The connection to the SMTP server is established with the user adminlimesurvey@domain.com. Subsequently, an administrator changes the email address in their survey to me@domain.com. When sending an email, the server checks if the "FROM" address (me@dommain.com) matches the connected user (adminlimesurvey@domain.com) and rejects the delivery.

Do you have any suggestions to resolve this situation?

It could be to set a default FROM address or automate the FROM field to mirror the authenticated user email. This alignment checks consistency between the connected user credentials and the FROM address.

A core plugin is done for this : just activate it.
