Upgrade from 2.05 to 2.65 Slider issue was created by katcher01
Hello, we have a survey admin who has created a number of surveys which use the "Multiple numerical input sliders" (numeric value). Following our upgrade, only one of the users surveys has a functioning slider. I am not a limesurvey user but a system admin. The slider does not move yet the error to click and slide appears. The unusual thing is that in another one of the users surveys the slider works. I have no idea how to help or where to point the user.

Clearly there is some difference between the two survey questions.

Any help would be appreciated.

Eric

Hi Eric,

There has been a major change between 2.05 and 2.6x when it comes to templates.

I assume that there have been made modifications to the slider questions that are causing the problem (e.g. via Javascript or CSS). Because "vanilla" slider questions should work on both systems. However, custom adaptations in 2.05 will not work for 2.6x.

So to be able to help, we would need some more information.

First thing that I would test is:
1. What survey template is used for the "problem survey" and which for the other survey, where the sliders are working? Is it an old template from 2.05 ==> There you have your problem. Change to one of the new templates and it might work.
2. If that doesn't solve the problem: what happens when the user creates a new slider question from scratch.

Hello Holch,

Thank you for the quick response. My problem is that I do not even know where to check these things. I am the sysadmin (i handled software upgrades).

Where do I find the template used?

Sorry for the newbie question!

FYI the url to survey is:

survey.concordia.ca/limesurvey/index.php/968622?lang=en

ID to use ->

1111111

This looks like a template that is shipped with the newest version. So this should not be the problem.

So it would be good to see what happens when you create a new slider question (not one that had been copied).

But I couldn't find any problem so far. Maybe the user Tpartner will see your request. He is a little more experienced in those things than me.

Can you set debug at 1 or 2 in config.php. Set it to 0 disable console, and there are some error here.

Hello,

This is my survey - thank you for your thoughts so far, but I did not understand your answer (I'm also new to LimeSurvey, and am finding the new version very difficult to navigate compared to the previous). Can you please explain where I would go in LimeSurvey to find config.php, if this is something that I could try from the user side, and what it is exactly that you're recommending I try?
Sorry for my new-ness but thanks again

Edit: In case it helps, here is the one survey that still has working sliders. One difference between it and the non-functional surveys is that it has conditions that trigger the slider questions to appear whereas the others do not have conditions, but I do not know why that would make a difference.
survey.concordia.ca/limesurvey/index.php...85/lang/en/newtest/Y

Please use ID '1111111111' if testing the survey, select condition 1 in the drop-down, and then answer "yes" to the first 2 questions to trigger the sliders to appear.

Thank you.

Hello all, I have enabled debug =1 in config.php. It is our production machine. If I know that you are looking at it, I can temporarily up it to 2.

Thanks in advance

Hello, I think we found the issue.
The slider accuracy value was set to 0. Once this was changed to 1, all seemed to work.

Hello all, problem again with slider questions. We have upgraded server and PHP
apache to: 2.4.27
PHP to: 5.6.31

The slider default value which is 0 (zero) now displays at 5. Scale 0-100, increment 1. Since it is on our test machine, it is not public.

My guess is that there is something weird about how it interprets the slider initial value of 0 (zero). If I set it to 1, it works, but zero no.

We must upgrade our server and php versions as shows a vulnerability. Please advise.
