Sorry, it is not clear what you are trying to do.

So you have a SPSS file, correct? What do you want to do with it?

I answer at the LimeSurvey forum in my spare time, I'm not a LimeSurvey GmbH employee.

Hi, siddhantwankar,
well, both files (*.sps and *.dat) are ASCII files which you can edit with each editor.
It's your responsibility if it works afterwards.

The rest is on SPSS side.
Run the *.sps file from the SPSS system.
Regarding this read the SPSS help.

Hi, siddhantwankar,
now I fear you have no idea what SPSS is. Or? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SPSS

Limesurvey is primarily a data collecting tool.
But not a tool to analyse this data.
To analyse you need something basic like EYCEL, OpenCalc, or... Or something more sophisticated like SPSS, SAS, PSPP, and many more.
This is the use of importing spss file in SPSS system. To be able to do advanced statistics.

Best regards
Joffm

If you don't know what SPSS is, then you most probably don't need SPSS files.

The SPSS files are a special format to export the collected data from Limesurvey for further analysis in the statistics software SPSS. If you don't know what SPSS is and do not intent to use/learn it, then it makes no sense to think further about this kind of export.

PSPP is a open source clone of SPSS. Of course it lacks some of the features that SPSS has.
