Office365 and large amounts of surveys was created by jaslight
We recently switched to office365 and are using this as mail server for sending out invitations.
The problem is that the mail server only works properly with a batch size of about 20 - for 50 already too many errors occur (takes long time, does not respond etc.)
Does anybody here also have this problem and how to solve it?

Since we regularly send out 1000+ surveys, this means clicking 50 times, waiting about 55 seconds before batch is sent. Very frustrating work.
I'm looking into this cron script, but do not have direct access to the server so I am dependent on webmasters etc.

Other options, suggestions?

Get a decent SMTP server for sending the emails. This is for sure the best solution.

Are you saying that Office365 is not fit/good/useful for this kind of activity?

Office365 is not made for this. It is not made for sending mass emails. Just like most other email services as well. There are specific services out there that are made for sending mass emails.

You probably have a certain daily / hourly / per minute limit for emails to be sent from an Office365 account. They do not want to be used for this type of emails.

E.g. here: office-watch.com/2012/office-365-message-limits/
There is a limit of 30 outgoing messages per minute per Office 365 user.

So for sending mass emails, it is always best to use a well configured smtp server that is made for sending mass emails. Sending mass emails is a science itself, because you can easily fall into the spam category. So you should do more research on this before sending out emails regularily. You can quickly burn your IP address (and your company / domain name) if you are doing mass emailing wrong.

This is very useful! We don't do large surveys that often, but often enough to take this seriously.

Either use Limeservice or install Limesurvey on a server of your own. Or go to a company that made their expertise of this.

And please do not make cross posts in multiple languages, because that may trigger to many people to discuss things on two pages, which is counter-productive.

How does installing Limesurvey on a server on your own change? The SMTP server is the bottleneck. Or Limesurvey is missing a sending limit. Which is a feature request.

Shortfix is getting a SMTP server without limits when delivering Email into the system. The SMTP itself mostly have limits when distributing the emails to the different mailservers. But to prevent timesouts on Limesurvey side you need an unlimited SMTP server.

BTW: Where is my first post on this thread. I got subscribed to this thread but my post vanished.

Seems to be an outdated information here.

But with office365, if(From-To !== Return-Path){ SMTP error}
