Hi,
I have installed LimeSurvey Version 2.06+ Build 150911, but now when I connect on admin interface, I believe that the server try a comfortUpdate.
Even if the value "updatecheckperiod" in database is "0" and "updateavailable" is "0" too.
Help me please.
Regards.

hello kedra1n.
Yes, this is the wanted behavior.
The best way to remove the message is to update to the last version ;)
When the version is up to date, the message will not be shown anymore.

If you have a look to the forum, you'll see that many people are stuck with old versions of LimeSurvey. When you don't update regularly , it can become really hard to update. Just today, we had this post :
www.limesurvey.org/en/forum/installation...s-from-1-87-to-2-06/

Whatever : if you close the alert message with the close button on the right, it will be reduce in the menu bar during all the session :

Bad idea. Then, you'll not be noticed anymore for any update, include security one.

A lot of bad ideas around the updater ;-) Will the display/reminder behavior between admin and user-logins changed? Or will the new "inform them all, update till it breaks" style be carried on?

The meaning of the word "stable" for users

Users are the one using the software, they are the one who will see that the software needs an update, and will ask for administrator to update.
It's working like that in most softwares.

?

Maybe , but it's the "default" system.
First example is "MS Windows" update : this can be disable by the domain name server.

In most software, you can disable the auto-update, but not the notifications of updates.
On Linux Mint for example, include a user not being an administrator will have access to update notification, and will be able to update.

In LimeSurvey, when closing the alert : the notification become really discreet, so it's not a big problem.

Having hundreds of people using old versions of LimeSurvey : that's a problem.

Yes, but it's just : a "default "installed tools + some options in this tool.
The admin can:
- Remove the tool ( (not sure for mint/ubuntu, but surely PackageKit))
- Deactivate auto check update ( see wiki.ubuntu.com/SoftwareUpdates#Checking...pdates_automatically for ubuntu)
- Remove check and/or alert for user
- Remove packagekit and only check update with apt manually or by cron.

You spoke wit a *nux : but all nux have a lot of option , and allow admin user to do "exactly what he want, even break his system".

Hi all,

I had LS 2.05 installed. I updated with ComfortUpdate and got a 500 error after installation.

Bad idea, very bad.

It would be nice to have a revert to last version ... just in case.

Regards

2.05 use the old comfortUpdate. The new one is much more reliable.
