Your LimeSurvey version: 5.5.1+230103
Own server or LimeSurvey hosting: Own server
Survey theme/template: minimal
==================
I have some future participants tested my open-access survey. It's not live yet, but through cookies I intend to prevent multiple participation.

However, I want my testers to be able to participate again. Is there a way to pretend the survey is new? Currently I'm thinking about copying the entire survey and upload it so that it receives a new ID.

Related thread forums.limesurvey.org/forum/installation...ey-or-make-it-as-new is does not apply to open-access surveys.

on multiple participation, you must ensure the user enters the survey with an URL param "newtest=Y"

No it doesn't seem to work for me. I get the message

The newtest=Y parameter resets the session but does not work around the cookie.

You will either have to:

1) Copy the survey with a different ID (as you suggest).

2) Get your testers to delete the cookie "LS_[surveyID]_STATUS" cookie.

3) Get the testers to use a different browser.

Okay, thanks, I will create a new survey then.

How should I avoid this in future? Is there a test mode for external testers? Survey developers can always run in test mode, but is there something like a link? At this stage, no need to store results.

How should I avoid this in future?

Don't turn on the "Set cookie to prevent repeated participation" feature until testing is complete and you are about to launch the survey. It can be toggled at any time.
