In fact it's more a «What a good idea , a great feature request for LimeSurvey or specific template (SkelVanilla for example ;))»
Assistance on LimeSurvey forum and LimeSurvey core development are on my free time.

Autocomplete in a seach box sounds like a good idea.
Is there an option to pre-fill the widget with options and URLs - maybe even across separate surveys?
(Have to look in the code of the widet, hm?)
