Randomization of vignettes was created by FranzLo
Hello everybody,

we (a small research group) would like to create an experiment with ten sets ( ten experimental groups) and five question groups per set. We have set 'group by group' so that the participants see the questions of one group of questions (x5) on one page and they are not mixed up, because they only make sense in the respective constellation. We do not want to have all questions of a set on one page. The participants should be randomly assigned to the groups.

First we created a group of questions with which we generated a random number {rand(1,10)}. Then we created a question group for the first set with a question to which we gave the relevance equation (random1==1). Then we created nine more question groups with the relevance equations (random1==2 etc.). Furthermore we generated another random number in another question group {rand(1,10)}. In addition, we have created ten further groups of questions with the relevance equations (random1==1 && random2==1) and continued until (random1==10 && random2==10). We wanted to continue this process in order to generate five random numbers at the end, so that five question groups are in each set. When we previewed the survey, we were shown the first question groups of the first random numbers, the others did not appear at all. Now we don't know what we did wrong, we would be very happy to get help and we are open for solutions that go in a completely different direction.

Many thanks in advance!

Hi,
as far as I understand:
10 experimental groups (sets)
Each set contains 5 groups of questions
Each group contains several questions.

Each participant is assigned randomly to one set or to one group?
I assume "to one group", as you create two random numbers.

Though I am confused, why you created two numbers (1,10).

LimeSurvey does not allow groups inside of groups.
So your design might be something like that:

S01G01 (1st set, 1st group) r1==1 AND r2==1
S01G02 (1st set, 2nd group) r1==1 AND r2==2
S01G03 (1st set, 3rd group) r1==1 AND r2==3
...
S02G01 (2nd set, 1st group) r1==2 AND r2==1
S02G02 (2nd set, 2nd group) r1==2 AND r2==2
...
S03G01 (3rd set, 1st group) r1==3 AND r2==1
...
S10G01 (10th set, 1st group) r1==10 AND r2==1
S10G02 (10th set, 2nd group) r1==10 AND r2==2
...
S10G05 (10th set, 5th group) r1==10 AND r2==5

This is what I understand.
But, sorry, I do not see your desired structure.

In these cases you always should attach a lss export of your survey.
Only a prototype that contains the relevant questions and the structure.

Or at least a sketch of the structure.
