I'm using the latest LS 3.22 hosted on LS servers, not installed locally.
Survey translation issues was created by krosser
Hey guys!
I'm on the LS version 3.7 (they've just updated it). And I have my survey done in English. But when I added the second language and started to translate questions and answer options, then either one language answers are missing or the other.
One other issue is that you cannot even quick add the answer options of the second language, because it erases the first language. So I have to add each answer individually. ... Well, this would be a small pain had it not been for the first one - the missing answers.
Has anyone experience this when translating on version 3+?

I cannot reproduce that. What exactly are you doing to quick-add?

With quick-add you can paste your list of answers as text on separate lines and then click either add or replace and it automatically adds/replaces the answers.
If your survey is in one language only, it does work. But when you add the 2nd language and start to translate answer options, then you can only add the 2nd language for each answer option and not have them all copy-pasted into quick-add. Because if you try it, then the original language is also replaced.
Can you see what I mean now?

Hi,
I see what you mean.
Good to know:
The quick add affects ALL languages, so it's done only once.
Translation is done afterwards by "quick translation".
Thanks

Well, thanks for the hint, but you cannot change answer options quickly using the quick translation feature, as it's also each answer per textbox.

I guess it's not clear, so I'll explain.
The "quick translation" was never a bug and was not the first topic for discussion in this thread. You can translate questions individually as well as through this "quick translation" in the tools. So, as it's in the tools, I called it a feature.
The 1st issue (or bug) in the original post was that when I translated answer options, then the original answer options and/or subquestions were deleted, like if the question has been just created and you still need to add your subquestions and/or answer options. I had then another thread open in the installation/updates forum where I raised my concerns with regards to the quality of LS update. The following day the issue disappeared without any changes from my side, because I was already discussing with my team that we would probably have to make the 2nd version of the survey in another language. Later on I gave it a go again and it worked in several examples. So, I can only speculate, but perhaps someone from the LS team saw my post and checked their system...
The 2nd issue with quick-add has not been fixed.
Just to be clear, I don't go around and spread false info about the LS platform. When any software works as it should, then you just keep using it for your professional needs without any complains, especially when you pay for it. Sadly, this hasn't been the case with the LS, in my recent experience.

My post was about the way "quick-add" is implemented. I remember times where "quick-add" wasn't overwriting other languages. Since I'm on this board for 10-11 years I was surprised that the LS 3 seems to be still buggy when it comes to quick add. I didn't quote any sentence from your posts.

Alright, I understand.
Yeah, I wish "quick-add" would not replace the original language, because it would have speeded up the translation process.

Hi,
Jelo: which times do you remember that there was this bevaviour (not affecting ALL languages)?
Must be a long time ago.
I tested in 3.70,. 2.73 and 2.06 and all show the same behaviour krosser mentioned and what we see.
To proove here a small (quick and dirty) video
Video
Krosser, you are right. The translation now is more time consuming than to be able to copy and paste the entire set.
I also would like to have some other options.
Like exporting all texts to EXCEL (or similar) - one column for each language - and importing again.
So other people - e.g. translation agencies - can deal with it without access to LS.

LS 3.X isn't really stable in the sense of minor bugs without much regression when updating.
I don't see a strong, shared vision of what is important in terms of bugfixing and feature prioritization.
Participation is low (Bugtracker and forum e.g. www.limesurvey.org/forum/future-features...-is-missing-the-most ). Perhaps the strongest signal can be send by SaaS-users of LimeSurvey.
