Please help us help you and fill where relevant:
Your LimeSurvey version: LimeSurvey Community Edition (Version 3.28.73+230906)
Own server or LimeSurvey hosting:
Survey theme/template:
==================
Basically I activated my survey and one of the questions was „where do you live?“ with the answers Germany and USA. The survey is available in German and English. For the English version I put USA as the first option and for the German version I put Germany as the first option.

I have the problem now that the statistics show me that everyone lives in the USA since limesurvey assumes that the first option in both languages means USA. Is there a way that I can filter the statistics by the language the participants were taking the survey?? Please help! This survey is for my dissertation :'(

No,
to be honest, it's a lack of testing.
As far as I understand,
in English you coded: 1= USA, 2 = Germany
in German you coded: 1= Deutschland, 2 = Vereinigte Staaten von Amerika

So, what do you expect?

You could have created a (hidden) single question,which you set according to the language.

Or you could have coded:
1= Germany
2= USA
3= Germany
and hided one of the "German" options according to the language.
But it's too late.

On the other side:
We do not see this "statistics" as a tool for final analysis, only for a quick overview while the survey is running.
You usually use a specific tool like SPSS, R, Jasp, Jamovi, even Excel, or so.

Well, no Dr. for you then.. :-)

But as Joffm already said: Don't use the "statistics" in Limesurvey for your analysis. Download the data set and analyze in a proper tool that is made for data analysis.

Have a look in your responses table. You should see the language there. Or export the responses as full answer texts, then you should have the country respondents chose as well.

I answer at the LimeSurvey forum in my spare time, I'm not a LimeSurvey GmbH employee.

Yeah was a pretty dumb mistake. However, I found a way to see where the participants are actually from. I exported the start language and the location so now I know the correct numbers. :)
