==================
Dear forum,

I need to create a question in the format of a visual-analogue scale for a study. So far, I have managed to create a slider using the question type 'Multiple numerical input' and labelling it on the left and right (see Figure 1).

Now I would like to add an image that appears below the slider to show the respondents which slider setting means what. Unfortunately, I can't manage to put the image in the right place. So far, it always appears in the top left-hand corner, while the slider is in the bottom left-hand corner (see image 2).

I have already searched for code, but it has not worked so far. This could also be due to the fact that I am working with LimeSurvey for the first time. So if there are any code suggestions, I would be very grateful for detailed descriptions.

Thanks in advance!
Luis

This is the English part of the forum.
Please, write English here.
Or use the German part.

Answer: My "Tutorial 2: Mehrfachnennungen,..." Chapter 4. (4.1. and 4.2.)
In the German part in one of the first 15 pages.

Joffm

Someone may move this to the German part.

As it is all in English now, it will stay where it is. :-)

I found an old thread with some other ideas.
Though you have to realise that slider on a small device are not comfortable to handle.
Bootstrap buttons might be a better solution.

Thank you very much for sharing the Tutorial and it looks exactly like the solution I'm searching for, especially the one with the emojis (for this I would cut out the ones from my template and insert it into the code.

Unfortunately copying the code provided in the tutorial does not work for me. When I insert it into the source code of the question, nothing is shown. Not even the default slider.

Do you have any recommendation how to implement it in the sourcecode?

Best,
Luis

How can we answer without seeing what exactly you did?

Please, provide a lss export of the survey (only the relevant questions).

Did you import the sample survey of the tutorial?

Joffm

And you still did not answer the questions at the beginning about your LS version, place of hosting.
Are you sure you have rights to insert javascript?

I'm sorry for the lack of information. And thank you for the hint that there is a sample survey. Now I made it to import the question properly and I am able to display it like it is shown in the tutorial. Further I was able to load my own images into the slider but unfortunately the images are not sitting on top of the slider but in front of it.

This time I added the .lsq and .lss file. How can I place the pictures on top of the slider?

My LS version is: Version 3.22.4+200212

Thanks,
Luis

I do not see any issue,

Here your original code with my icons

Only adapted the left text becaus it's only one line

So improve your smileys, and of course you may have to adapt the css.
Which theme do you use?

BTW:
In KAB: Why do you insert the script to get different column width, but all columns are equal?
Here it is sufficient to set the "subquestion width".
As it is a semantic differential you have to add the width of the left text and the right text (22)

Everything seems working at the moment, so thank you very much!

I changed the column width because otherwise the text would have been to dense but you're right the width is equal at the moment. I'll change that.

My theme is vanilla.

Best,
Luis

Of course.
But setting the column width with this script is thougt to get different column width for each column.
You only change the width of the text.
And this you do by the setting "subquestion width"

To be honest, this isn't really a "slider question". Why making life more complicated for respondents (especially those on a mobile device) with a slider question, if this could easily and much better be resolved with 5 radio buttons?
