Filtering subquestions in a Ranking Question was created by aarrbbiiee
Hello, can anyone help me on this?
Let’s say I have a Multiple choice question (A) and a Ranking question (. Now, how can I display specific subquestions in a Ranking question based on the selected answer in the Multi choice question?
Example:
If I select option 1 in Multi question then Ranking question should only display options 1 & 2, and if I select option 2 in Multi, then Ranking option should have options 3 & 4.
Thank you in advance!

Volunteers are not paid.
Not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless

Use a (hidden) multiple question, check the desired items by a question of type equation, use this multiple question as array filter of the ranking.
Joffm
And obviously you talk about a single punch question like list(radio).
So do not use

This is confusing because one might think of a question of type "multiple".I select option 1 in Multi question

Hi Sir, thank you for your response.
Well, actually I am referring to a Multiple choice question.
I'll elaborate it per scenario.
Scenario 1: If I select either options 1, 2 or 3 from a Multi choice question, then the Ranking question should display options (subquestions) 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5.
Scenario 2: And if I select options 4, 5, or 6 from the Multi choice question, then the Ranking question should have options 6, 7, 8, 9 & 10.
Scenario 3: If I select options 1 & 6 from the Multi choice question, then Ranking question should display all of its subquestions.
Hope this is clear.

Hi again Sir. I've learned the use of array filter if both questions have the same subquestions. Thanks for that.
However, I apologize if I still can't get your instructions right.
I've include an image of my sample scenario and again my questions.
(I've used Ranking question for column B because they have to select their top 3 most applicable actions)
**Note that these are 2 questions only, First question is a Multiple Question (Column A) and Second Question is a Ranking Question (Column I just used labels First Row - A, and Second Row - B so it would be easy to understand what are the specific answer options from First Row - B and Second Row - B that should be displayed based on what is selected from the Multiple choice question.
Please let me know if this requirement is feasible in LimeSurvey. Thank you so much!

- If I select any of the options from First Row - A then ALL the answer options in First Row - B should be displayed.
- Same with if I select any of the options in Second Row - A then ALL answer options in Second Row - B should be displayed.
- If I select any option from First Row – A AND Second Row – A then ALL answer options from First Row – B and Second Row – B should be displayed.
- And what if they have the same response overlap, is it possible that they don’t see the same answer choice twice? Example is the answer options “I don’t have the tools to take action” which is present on both First Row – B and Second Row – B.
