array question with only 1 subquestion answer per possible answer

I need to create a survey where each question is comprized of 3,4 or 5 statements to which user answer which statement is the "best" and which statement is the worst.

ex:
Q1 least most
Statement 1
Statement 2 X
Statement 3
Statement 4 X

I tried different Array options, but I can't get what I need. Would anyone have an idea?

Thanks,
Mike

The typical way to ask for best/worst questions is to use to columns, not one.

Item Best | Worst
Item1 x |
Item 2 |
Item 3 |
Item 4 |
Item 5 | x

A workaround is to use MaxDiff-Style, where the itemnames are in the middle of the two answer columns. manual.limesurvey.org/Workarounds:_Quest...axDiff_question_type

I think his problem is that he can't figure out how he can make Limesurvey to allow only one answer per column, so only one answer for "best" and one answer for "worst".

There are solutions with Javascript, but I think in this case, using an array by column layout should do the trick, except for the fact that one could chose the same item as best and as worst. So probably some more checks necessary.

The sad thing is, that array by column has no validation settings at all. Normally you would use unique(self) to prevent that answers can entered more than once. But array by column logic settings are only offering "Randomization group name:". Nothing else.
