Hello to everybody,
I have a question asking for the income of the respondent.
Mi goals are:
- have a range (say, 1- 9999 euros)
- let the possibility of No answer
- display a message just in case the number is out of the range (say: 'Enter a value between 0 and 9999 or select No answer') and hide the other tips
My solution at the moment is:
- adding a multiple choice question (Q100)
- adding only one answer with code 10000 and label "No answer"
- addding the "other" option and labeling it as "Euro" , so here I should have the income with these options: only numbers and min/max value 1/10000
The problem is that I always see the tips (also when the question is just shown but not answered):

So, I would like 1) to show the tips only when they are needed (= answer out of range) and 2) the two options should be exclusive (i.e. or income, or no answer, but not both at the same time).

Here is my survey:

File Name: NumericalI...9434.lss
File Size:14 KB

I am trying this on the new version ( 2.50+ Build 160210).

I thank everybody for any suggestions!
EL

I apologize for having placed my post in the wrong section... may I ask the moderator to move it in the "Can I do this with LimeSurvey" question?
Thank you in advance,
EL

Replied by tpartner on topic Numerical input question with No answer option
I would do this with 2 separate questions.

1) A multiple choice question with only one answer and label "No answer".

2) A numeric input question for the income.

Then you can place relevance on the income question so it isn't shown if the multiple choice is checked.
