I'm a long time user of Limesurvey but have been using V3 up until now. I would like to move to V6 and have set up a new Linux server with PHP v8.1 and MYSQL database.
Everything seemed to install ok and I can log in to the Admin screen. However, I can't seem to create a new survey and if I click the 'Edit Themes' button I just get taken to a completely blank page. I tried importing an LSS survey and this didn't work either.
I set the debug mode to 2 in config.php and if I try to create a new survey I get the following error:
Call to undefined function mb_ereg_replace()
/limesurvey/application/helpers/sanitize_helper.php(122)

Any ideas what's going on here?

Sounds like your php is missing the mbstring library:-

How do your proceed the installation ?
Via the installer ?

If yes : there are an issue : installer must show you the lack of mbstring !

I did the initial installation using the installer but I was on v8.2 of PHP and I had mbstring enabled in that version.

I then downgraded to v8.1 of PHP as I read that Limesurvey wasn't fully compatible with it yet and I think I forgot to enable mbstring there.

I'm still having problems with the install. I can now see the themes and I can create a new survey but when I try and add a question to a group there is no save button showing. I also can't add any labels to a question.

I'm wondering if there are any other extensions I need to enable. I've been through the checklist in the manual and I think everything is there.

I'm a bit stuck at the moment.

I think the blank survey I created thinks is it currently active (even though it isn't) as when I hover over the green 'Add question' button it says 'Deactivate your survey to enable this setting'

What is you DB type ?
Can you check if you have some lines in your lime_template_configuration table ?

DB is MYSQL and I have 7 records in the lime_template_configuration table

No, I don't have those buttons at all. As mentioned, I think the survey thinks it's activated so I can't add any new questions or labels.

Activated: button exist, but some part are disable.
 
Can you activate debug mode ? And test again ?

You are superadmin ?
