I am working on a very long survey instrument. There are 57 groups with 3 to 6 questions in each group (sub-scale). I'm using the group-by-group method to display questions (all randomly chosen, of course). The result is anywhere from 3 to 6 questions at a time, depending on the random group and questions chosen. For consistency and enhanced user experience, is there a way to show five questions at a time? Or some setting to show x questions at a time?

No, the only way to show X questions at a time on a "page" is using the question group approach. There is no "page" concept in Limesurvey, only a question group concept which can be used to simulate a "visual" page concept (with the effect that you lose the "logical" group concept.

I have a feature request out for a couple of years now (since 2014 actually):

But what I don't understand is the randomly chose. What do you chose randomly (group or question) and how do you chose them randomly? And how many are shown per survey?

Each question is in the "Randomization group name: all" -- this allows us to randomize the entire survey. The groups are also included in the randomization group ("all"). As you pointed out, there is no "page" concept in LS.

No worries. We are grateful for your work. This is a wonderful platform!

I am not a programmer, just helping out in the forum as a volunteer. So definitely not my work. But great to hear that you are overall happy with Limesurvey. ;-)

but you can support my feature request. Who knows, maybe one day it will be considered!

Hi, maybe I misunderstand it.

But if ALL questions are in the same "randomization group" all questions are displayed in random order.
So the additional randomization of groups does not affect this.
It only affects the number of questions displayed on a page.
One respondent sees 3 questions in the first group, then 6 questions in the second group and the next sees 6 questions in the first, then 3.in the second.

But this is what you DO NOT want.
You want the respondents to see always 5 questions on one page.

Why can't you just put five questions into each group?

Each group represents a subscale that has been psychometrically validated. Some only require three items, while others require more to ensure validity and reliability. Groups provide an easy method for maintenance. This isn't as much of an issue on some shorter surveys, but the one that raised this question has over 50 subscales.

It's not a huge issue. You have made some great interface improvements since I began with LS several years ago. I thought I might have missed this feature.

Many thanks.
