==================
I set a rank, and set the Minimum answer number as 3. Then the interface showing in default warning style with red shadow once a participant open the page.
I think the reminding red shadow style should show up  when the user operation in the wrong way, not before it.
So am I do soomething wrong? Or how can I solve it?
Thanks for all!

Hi,
At the moment the participant doesn't match the condition.
He did not select at least three options.
So the warning is correct.
As soon as he fulfills the condition the warning will change the color.

But what do you want to achieve?
In your screenshot there are only three options to rank.
Do you want to make sure that all three options are ranked?
Then it is sufficient to set the question to "mandatory" (without min and max)

While answering

After clicking "Next"

Well, when do you supose a warning for a minimum of 3 answers should be shown? Limesurvey won't know that the respondent is about to finish, despite having chosen less than 3 answers.

At what point do you want the message to appear and how?

Oh, as you mentioned. If I didn't set the min or max variables, the default Rank option will force participants to rank all the item? right?

I think for the better user experience.  When the rank question set min. to  2. It should:
1.Only show the requirement (MIN. 3)  but no  warning when visitor just login the page.
2. When they finished ranking and press the NEXT, the warning red shadow effect shows up when visitor just rank less than 3 (which not fit the requirement).

The current effect  will make participants confused when they see the warning onece they login.

That's only my opinion from UX aspect, maybe there is another senario I have not consider about.

Still Thanks!

You can do this.

If desired write your own hint into the question text.
Do not set any condition, but in the question validation equation enter "count(self) ge YOUR_DESIRED_MINIMUM"

You get

And after clicking "Next"

I'm totally OK with this, the issue is in JS system adding input-error, i use submitted-error to have a difference and use specific errorclass in skelvanilla.

Maybe it can be added as feature request ?
