most likely I misinterpret the refurl.

Refurl is the URL from where someone comes to your website/survey.

E.g. if you post your survey URL here in this forum thread and I click on it and fill in the questionnaire, the Refurl would be forums.limesurvey.org/forum/design-issue...does-not-save-refurl
