Im trying to configure a gmail smtp server to make the email send, but it doesnt work, i find this thread but the option that m,ention there, is no available now, is there any way to configure gmail account as smtp server?ç[url] forums.limesurvey.org/index.php/forum/ca...ey/107506-smtp-gmail [/url]I put my try on the config, if anyone know how to configure it, i be very grateful.

PD: On the image can not see it but i try putting smtp.gmail.com:587 too.

Try changing the SMTP host to ":465"

I try it, with

smtp.gmail.com:465 and TLS, with smtp.gmail.com:465 and SSL,  with smtp.gmail.com:587 and TLS and with smtp.gmail.com:587 and SSL.

And nothing works, someone was able to make it work with google?

Ive been making some tests on a local installation of Limesurvey 6.2.3 in XAMPP

And if I configure like this.

Host: smtp.gmail.com:587
Account: An account of gmail
Password: My password
SMTP encryption: SSL/TLS

Gives me this error.

 

And with this configuration
Host: smtp.gmail.com:587
Account: An account of gmail
Password: My password
SMTP encryption: StartTLS

gives me this error, ¿can this tell you something that can help us to manage to put a gmail account as email sender?

So to me it looks like STARTTLS is not supported / allowed by the SMTP server.

SSL/TLS seems to be usable, but you have trouble connecting. Is your Gmail setup for access to SMTP through third party software? Afaik there is a setting and you must allow each Webapp specifically.

Also keep in mind that for normal Gmail Accounts there are strict limits of how many emails can be sent. Gmail is not really made for sending mass emails.

Ok, i be able to make it work on Limesurvey 6.2.3, my configuration if someone need is this

Host: smtp.gmail.com:465
Account: An account of gmail
Password: My password
SMTP encryption: SSL/TLS

But the thing that i dont have, and that was my problem, was have not active the 2 step verification on my google account and then, once you have that activated, you have to go on your google account on security--> 2 step verification --> app password, and generate a password for email and other device, with the password that google gives you, put it on Limesurvey as account password and that works.

I have the same issue OP was having, v 6.3.9. I followed the same steps, and was able to get the email test to send correctly, but am still unable to get survey invites to send.

I have 2 step auth on, and have put in the app password.

I do see that (according to online support docs) 465 isn't listed as accessible by LimeSurvey.

Anyone have suggestions?

Take care: Gmail is getting more and more strict. I am not completely sure if your solution will work in the future.
