Time limit for surveys was created by Anika___
Hey,
I have two questions:
Is it possible to set a time limit for an entire survey?
If not: Does anyone have experiences with setting a time limit within a group by group setting? Are there ways to display the timer (set up as a text-display question) at all times, even if I add 30 questions to the group?
From what I understand from threads here and from the manual, both things are not possible. However, I am not giving up hope yet:-)
This is the context:
We would like to deliver a short test via limesurvey; participants should answer 30 questions within 40 minutes. After 40 minutes, the survey should be automatically over and store the results. It would be good of participants could see the remaining time no matter where on the page they are...
Currently, we also have mandatory questions within the survey. We should probably change this, since I understand from posts and the manual that they could lead to problems in timed setting...).
Happy for any comments and ideas

I don't think it is impossible, but you probably will need some custom code. I could imagine to save the start time within a hidden questions and then on each "page" (aka question group) you read this time and create your own timer via JS or something (not an expert on this, thus not of much help). Let's see if Tpartner has an idea.
But what is supposed to happen if the timer runs out?
I answer at the LimeSurvey forum in my spare time, I'm not a LimeSurvey GmbH employee.

Thanks for this! "Not impossible" sounds good to me:-) I will check your suggestions later - it might take me some time to try this out, since I am very much a beginner...
The survey should end, and participants should be directed to the end page of the survey. Since they have to do second survey after this, I am figuring out at the moment if it is better to redirect them from there via link to a new survey or to start the second survey (aka new question groups) from this end page, i.e. having the second survey within the same survey....

Ah, that sounds interesting! Have you - or anyone here - tried this before? Is it difficult to create such a css/js?
Thank you!

Thank you. I'll check it - great!
Just to double check: If I'd use this workaround, I could set a timer for the entire all-in-one-page survey? And mandatory questions would still represent a problem, I guess (but I will start another post with this soon, to not mix up all the topics...)
