QS:Keep codes order

From LimeSurvey Manual

Keep codes at original positions (keep_codes_order)

Description

A semicolon-separated list of answer option or subquestion codes, for example A1;DK. When the answer options or subquestions are shown in random or alphabetical order, the items with these codes keep their original position. All other items are randomized or sorted around them. (New in 6.17.0 )

Use this to keep options like "Don't know" or "None of the above" at the end of the list, or to keep an item always first, while the other items are randomized or sorted.

The original position is the position of the item in the question editor. The order itself is set with Answer options order or Subquestions order.

Example: a question has the answer options Zebra (A1), Mango (A2), Apple (A3), Banana (A4) and Don't know (DK), in this order. With alphabetical order and A1;DK, participants see Zebra, Apple, Banana, Mango, Don't know.

Up to version 7.9.0 the codes were only kept at their original position for random order. Alphabetical and Random A-Z/Z-A order sorted them together with the other items.
