I would say no for the admin part without putting deeply hands elsewhere (jquery-ui) but there is no probleme for the front end... FYI, I've a very stable 1.92 online platform powering questionnaires like a charm with jquery v2.1.1.
The good news is that you can use 2 versions since the calls are made from different files:
- front end => /common_functions.php
- admin => /admin/admin_functions.php

And it sounds weird. If you can update jQuery, why can't you update Limesurvey?

1.92 is still widely used in the academic world mostly by universities (I know big ones using 1.91 without EM)...

I agree. I know that there are many crazy people out there...
What I meant was: I don't know anyone of the helpers here in the forum that still has such an old version running.
Those admins of universities who still run 1.92 or even 1.91 probably don't care much about Limesurvey and will probably not be found on this forum very frequently. So they are of no help here.
If only half of the universities that run some kind of Limesurvey would be a little bit more invested, LS could be even better. Sadly, most of them couldn't care less.

Sad, but I guess we have to live with the fact, that there are many people out there that will not give back to the project, even if they profit from it a lot. There would be so many ways to contribute. Anyway, this is a totally different topic and has nothing to do with the original question. Sorry.

1st reason: Sometimes univ. would really like to upgrade to a recent LS version but can't due to a general obsolete environment (mostly PHP)... and they don't want to upgrade PHP because they have other softwares working fine.
2nd reason: they are using Qualtrics strongly supporting universities in a long term commercial strategy.
Future loyal users & ROI almost guaranteed... (a quick search in PubMed for indexed medical papers published in 2016: SurveyMonkey->85; Qualtrics->42 & LS->5)
That's true...holch wrote: If only half of the universities that run some kind of Limesurvey would be a little bit more invested, LS could be even better. Sadly, most of them couldn't care less.
This said, a great thanks to @uvic ( www.uvic.cat ) for all the work done for LS (mainly for the catalan translation)
Maybe it could be interesting to ask for details (version) in this top 5 thread: "Which universities are using LimeSurvey?"
