I have searched for an answer to this to no avail so I am just putting this out there to see if there is a workaround or an easy solution ...

Current version of Limesurvey is 2.6.4-lts

What I need to do is display groups of questions in a random or rotated order ... not the questions within groups...

The survey is set up to display question by question.

So what I have is as follows ....

Group C1
Question C1a
Question C1b

Group C2
Question C2a
Question C2b

Group C3
Question C3a
Question C3b

Group C4
Question C4a
Question C4b

Now I know with the "Group Randomise" set I can randomise the questions in each group but what I need is to see the Groups randomised so to a respondent it could show as

C2 / C4 / C1 / C3

or

C3 /C4 / C2 / C1 etc...

The questions within the groups would remain in the correct order QXa -> QXb

Thank you in advance for any thoughts you may have on this.

You can randomize group order by entering a common value in the "Randomization group" field for all groups - manual.limesurvey.org/Question_groups_-_...estion_group_actions

Unfortunately the randomization doesn't seem to work with my configuration. I had the problem with my own survey and now downloaded your survey, but always the same order is shown.
My specs:
testing Limesurvey on the XAMPP Installation on Windows 10 (limesurvey3.14.10+180924-on-xampp)
Firefox 62.03 on the question viewing end.
Any thoughts on why it doesn't work?
Is there a quick workaround?

Thanks!

Additional Info: I tried uploading the sample survey on your demo page, the randomization doesn't work there either.

Tested it on the demo and seems like the group randomization does not work. Sounds like you found a bug and you can report it in the bug tracker.

I answer at the LimeSurvey forum in my spare time, I'm not a LimeSurvey GmbH employee.

We have just created a lengthy explanation of the different Limesurvey randomization features and that included group randomization. It worked fine for us using the latest Limesurvey version.
Here is a link to the setup and a link to a sample survey .

You can test the whole sample survey with all randomization features at this link .
