database updates (migrations)

Assume I update my Limesurvey instance via git pull and there are any database updates.
There is a Console Command "updatedb".

php application/commands/console.php dbupdate

How I do I get noticed about new "migrations"?
Is it good practice to call the command after git pull every time?

dbupdate test if update must be done (or not) and don't send an exception if it's not needed
github.com/LimeSurvey/LimeSurvey/blob/ma...ateDbCommand.php#L49

Then you can use it.

I don't follow. Do we need to run this when updating via GIT? I have never done so.

If you don't do it : it's done when you connect to admin : github.com/LimeSurvey/LimeSurvey/blob/59...nController.php#L123

Really really rarely needed
