The LimeSurvey 1.80 release marks the end of four release candidates and five month of work on this new release. New question types, a re-designed conditions editor, public statistics, a SOAP interface, template re-design for accessibility, result export to R, new icons and lots of numerous new features make this release a big leap forward - for details please check out the extensive change log!
Thank you to the LimeSurvey project team for creating this great new release - remember that most of us do this work in our spare time - so if you meet a LimeSurvey developer in person be sure you give them at least a hug and buy him/her a beer!
The last six months have been alot of work for the LimeSurvey team since beside the amazing and continuous development on LimeSurvey 1 we are also pushing hard on LimeSurvey 2 development and we hope to present a totally new face with LimeSurvey 2 soon.
For now check out the new LimeSurvey v 1.80!

This release marks the last step before final release and is meant as a maintenance release for people already using the 1.80 version in production. We even managed to put in a couple of new features, most notably a data export to R.
We also fixed numerous minor bugs which should make your life alot easier. Thank you to everyone contributing by reporting bugs or patches and to the great LimeSurvey team fixing, helping and creating new features!
Now download our shiny new version 1.80RC4 or read the changelog...

The LimeSurvey project is applying for Google Summer of Code 2009. We want to use this great event by Google to introduce students to the new LimeSurvey 2 software development (lots of academic people use LimeSurvey for thesis reasons) and push the development of LimeSurvey 2 forward. LimeSurvey 2 is in some areas already alot better than LimeSurvey 1 but certain key components are still missing - so there is plenty to leave your fingerprint.
Have a look at our Google Summer of Code Wiki Pages , our ideas page and our idea list and discussion forum! and share your thoughts - tell us if you would be interested to take up on one of the tasks or if you have an even better idea you would like to develop in LimeSurvey 2.
Please keep in mind that we still have to get accepted by Google - but if we do, it's on for young and old!

Please check out this little nifty video, which shows the amount of
work that has been put into LimeSurvey during the last 6 years and was
made using the code_swarm engine. Every particle showing up or blinking
stands for an edited or added file. The best way to watch it is in
full-screen mode (and in HD)! It's getting pretty spectacular when LimeSurvey 2
development starts.
