Import/Copying of Survey Fails was created by JanJan
Hey, Ive been trying to do copy my survey, but it doesnt work. Ive also exported the surveydata and tried to import it again, but im always stuck at a blank page after hitting the copy/import button. I cant get to the window where it shows "import/copy succesfull".

How can I fix that?

Difficult to say with the little information that we have.

But I would say that you are hitting a server limit (e.g. memory allocation).

I had the same idea. I had 4 surveys and deleted 2 of them, because i didnt need them anymore. Still the same problem.

Which additional information can I provide?

And an aditional problem: How can I refresh tokens, so the same people can do the survey again (Retesting)?

I am not referring to the disc space, I am referring to memory allocated to php scripts. To import and export and copy a survey, Limesurvey scripts need a certain amount of memory (RAM) on the server. Usually a server has a limit allocated to each script, let's say 16MB. This depends on your server configuration. If the script needs more than those 16MB to copy or to export your survey, the server will shut the script down at the 16MB limit. Usually I am getting an error message when this happens, but this is also a server configuration aspect. Some servers don't give this error message.

"Refreshing tokens": Set "uses left" to at least '1'.

Ah, so I have to contact the server administation for help?

Hm, the uses left thing doesnt work. I tried it, my testers get the "invite already used" error, even when i create another key for them and set the "uses left" to 2.

You don't need to create a new key.

You use the admin screen and adapt the token and increase the token left there. Worked for me so far ...

And yes, if you are not the administrator of the server and can't make changes to the php.ini you might need to contact your server admin, at least to know what the memory limit for PHP scripts is. As I said, without an error message it is difficult to tell, but my first guess would be some lack of memory.

Is this a shared hosting environment?

Hm, my professor gave my access to "his" limesurvey server. But I think hes only paying for the address and some webspace/serverpower, I dont believe its "his" server. (is this the definition of shared server?)

You also have to re-set the "completed" data, I think the default for unused tokens is "N".

As for the import/copy issue: How many questions are there at your survey?

Try importing it at our demo which always runs the latest code: demo.limesurvey.org/admin
