I just want to know: How long did it take you to program the first version of Limesurvey?
I ask this question because I see that Limesurvey's source is not very easy to developp.

The first version of LS is from many years ago and was called PHPSurveyor. I don't think any of the current developers was actually involved in the first version of Limesurvey.

Rewriting everything from scratch is always a temptation, but it's practically never a good idea.
When we'll convert LimeSurvey to Yii2, all the different parts of limeSurvey will become Yii Modules, so it will be much cleaner and easier to maintain.

It seems that my question was not as clear as I want!
I need to know how long did the first version (Phpsurveyvor?) take to born and how many parents did it have.
It is for my studies and the question is: How long does it take to create a strong application and how many developpers do you need in your group? You have to choose a type and explain where are the difficulties.

I have the answer for the second question but it would of you if you can give me the first one.

Git will provide you all the info you need, you can even quantify them.

-What is a "strong application"? How do you define strong applications?
-Rule of thumb (which might have exceptions): More developers, less time. Less developers, more time. So how do you want to answer this question with those two variables open?

While I think that LS is an extremely valuable software, I highly doubt that actually 143 man years went into this.

LS was first registered in 2003, so 15 years ago. 143 man years would mean that during the last 15 years between 9 and 10 developers have worked full time on developing LS. I guess the project would have been happy if they actually had 5 full time developers (or the equivalent in contributors) to the project, don't you agree, Denis?

I guess this system of openhub includes the Yii code into its calculations?
