Agree that the message is misleading (goves an error but also saiys "emails sent"), but more generally wouldn't it be better if participants could be invited before the actual start date of a survey?

I agree that the system should send emails and should show a warning before that.

In most cases yes, yet is there a good reason for not allowing it? There are cases, for example when you run "tests" that can only be accessible at a certain point in time, where it will be useful not to have to sit by your PC as an admin to launch the test but to be able to anticipate it.

When you test :
- Adding the real token with the valid date
- Adding the token test with no date.

Don't have to remind to send only to your tester to send invitation.

Testing is not a good reason.

Sorry Denis, I got the messaging wrong: what I meant is not tests but exams: I had trainees that needed to udnergo an exam, and we wanted that exam to be accessible only during the hours dedicated for it. We also have cases where we don't want the participants to answer before they have been briefed on the tools we deploy. There again it could be useful, but nothing that can't be worked around for sure ;)

I think the bug fix do the job : allow to disable date validity when sending email.
I don't understand why you want an "alert" ?

1st : it's more complicated to develop
2nd : it's not "pleasant" for user.

Just a click on a checkbox before sending and go go.

That would work for me. If we can simply disable when needed this "validation rule" and have the emails sent anyways, perfect!
