I had the same with my Administrator Account. Go to your limesurvey Database and change/add an Administrator Account manually. Then login with the new Administrator-Account. That works for me.

This seems to happen for some users using the latest version of chrome on the latest version of Windows10. It's not directly related to LimeSurvey, and you could have the same problem with other websites/web applications.

In LimeSurvey, to solve that problem:

1. login into your installation with a different browser (firefox, edge, internet explorer, safari, opera, etc)
2. go to: global settings -> security
3. Here change the value of "Force HTTPS" to On or Off (depending if you're using HTTPS or not), but don't let it to "don't force".

I hope it will help.

If you are a LimeSurvey professional hosting user, you can just create a ticket and our team will do it for you.

In my case this happens with Firefox, Chrome, Opera, etc on Windows 7. No login was possible after upgrade to new version. Somewhat different to your solution.

be sure that you access your installation without httpS, just http.

Why to access admin with encrypted transport connection? You stated that enforcing the HTTP-protocol setting is the key. Not if HTTPS or HTTP is used. Just the enforcement.

First: the problem is not directly linked to LimeSurvey nor to comfortUpdate, but rather to some windows updates. comfortUpdate logout user after he updated, so he must login again: then he faces the login bug. But it's not a change in the LimeSurvey code that makes that bug happen.

Because some customers were facing that issue on LimeSurvey Professional Hosting, we investigated a lot to understand what was happening. Only 3 people were affected, but they were using LimeSurvey Professional Hosting, so we spent the necessary time to fix their problem. It has been hard because here nobody could reproduce that bug.

For what we've seen: people were tying to login to an installation with httpS, whereas SSL was not enable in their installation. So, LimeSurvey was redirecting them to the url with correct protocol: http://, not httpS://. But, those kind of redirections seems not be allowed anymore in some windows version, causing the weird login bug.

So: people facing that kind of logging bug should make sure that they're trying to reach the url with the correct protocol (http OR https), and then, to set the LimeSurvey security configuration to that protocol.

Thanks for your answer.

If the issue is directly related to SSL-certifactes handling under Windows we often can see a difference between IE,Firefox and Chrome. Firefox uses it's own certificate repository, where IE and Chrome using the certificate repository of the windows OS. If Microsoft got an update bad, to crosscheck via Firefox sometime helps.

I think Moppelchen had a different issue, since it is Windows 7 and Firefox is showing the same issue.

Hi
I changed the setting "Force HTTPS" to Off, as LouisGac suggested. Now I have lost admin access from all browsers whether using http or https due to a too many redirects error.
Can I reset this in a configuration file somewhere? Please help.
Thanks,
Sharyn
