Install on multiple domains was created by RoyChehmer
Hello,

I am hosting a test site on one server and I want to set an environment to handle a multiple domains (multi sub-domains)
so each sub-domain will point to unique DBName (one MySQL instance with multi databases).

for example :
like aaa.example.com will point to DB Name : aaa
like bbb.example.com will point to DB Name : bbb

There is and option to setting up this request, any guide for that ?

Thank you,
Roy

I am not an expert on server administration, but there should be no problem to set up multiple LS installations on subdomains, using different tables on the same MySQL installation. I have done this before with different versions of LS, but it should also work with the same version of LS, I don't see a problem. As long as you have separate LS installations.

Now if you want only ONE LS installation that uses a different MySQL table depending on which subdomain is accessed, I don't think this is possible. Some server wizard might be able to find a solution for this, but I guess it will be quite tricky.

I answer at the LimeSurvey forum in my spare time, I'm not a LimeSurvey GmbH employee.

Yes, my need is to have one installation that use a different tables under multiple subdomains.

I suppose I can change the code to set the db on witch subdomains is accessible. But it will be a revert on the next LS update...

Any other solutions?

You can access some info looking at those 2 related discussions:
  1. www.limesurvey.org/community/forums/desi...main-vs-subdirectory
  2. www.limesurvey.org/forum/can-i-do-this-w...allation-2-databases
If all your changes are limited to your application/config/config.php file, I think there will be no issue with further software updates.
