I am trying to refer to previous variables by using {varname} but it does not work. Can anyone put me in the right direction? See the attached. Many thanks!

At first glance:

"lat" and "lon" seem to be array questions.
same with "geochecklat" and "geochecklon"
If you want to calculate something you have to use a question of type "equation".

Thanks Joffm. I have specified type/scale as '*' so it should be understood by LS as an equation? That 'Array' thing was added by LS when I exported the survey to txt.

Don't export to TXT, export to LSS for us to test.

And: If Limesurvey changes non-array-questions to array-questions when exporting to TXT, you should report a bug .

Thanks, the lss version is attached. Specifically {lat} and {lon} get computed but for example 'latitude is: {lat}' shows as 'latitude is:'

Tried to test it, but for me the coordinates are not even created.

No error message, nothing from the Javascript.

OK, I was too quick. I activated the survey and saved one answer and the coordinates as well as a value for lat and lon are saved in the database.

Seems like equation questions are not piped in correctly (under 3.22.5, what version of LS are you using?).

I think the problem is that the creation of the coordinates is on the same page.
I created a new group between the first and the second and moved the creation of the coordinates into this group and this solved the problem:
