Array with variable columns was created by christianlangkamp
Hi, the background is I am designing a psychometric test on friendship.
I think most people have UP TO 5 friends, so limiting an array question to 5 question is clear. However if people only have say 2 or 3, and then the whole array has 5 it leaves them feeling bad.
So my question is can I set in the array setup a variable and say - please provide columns 1-5 depending on Variable A ?

Volunteers are not paid.
Not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless

Hi, Christian
Have a look at Denis' plugin "hideEmptyColumn"
gitlab.com/SondagesPro/QuestionSettingsType/hideEmpty
Here the example:
" demo.sondages.pro/655577?newtest=Y "
Unfortunately you didn't say which kind of array you are thinking of.
Here you enter the names in a question of type "multiple short text" (with dynamic showed subquestions)
And an array(numbers) with checkbox layout

If you transpose it and put the names in the rows, you should be able to use sub-question relevance to hide/show rows.

Exactly, Tony,
but as I said: We don't know his questions.
We don't know what is variable A, what will be displayed in the rows (long text, short text?)
If there is a lot of items he will get in trouble with the space.

Hi, this is pretty much the right direction.
I use general arrays, usually by column with radio choices.
Let me try this out.
