IMPORT Data to SPSS but missing values was created by gendermint
Hello,
we imported the data as recommended on limesurvey page. But when we open the SPSS file, there are some missing values of some variables which are not o/1 coded, because they originally had a Lickert scale as answer categories. On the site manual.limesurvey.org/Exporting_results
This is written as solution: "Define the scale to use for your variable
It is possible to override the default scale used for a variable by setting the question attribute scale_export to the appropriate value."
But there isn`t any manual to do so! Where exactly you have to write the scale_export command in the SPSS syntax window?
Please help!
king regards

It's a setting in the question options. You can change the way the question is exported when using the SPSS export.
You can find that in many questions.
manual.limesurvey.org/Question_type_-_Ar...e_.28scale_export.29

The manual part you quote is not about SPSS syntax.gendermint wrote: But there isn`t any manual to do so! Where exactly you have to write the scale_export command in the SPSS syntax window?

Thank you for your qucik answer and the link, but in this article:SPSS export scale type (scale_export), the inserted link here does not lead to a SPSS documentation, it leads to another article... thus it doesnt show the solution for this, do you have any document where we can see how to export the scale type to SPSS or how to see the missing values?

So, what is your problem?
There are data missing in the variable of the scale? Or?
Was the scale mandatory or not?
If not, was there the "no answer" option?
Was there a relevance equation?
So, many questions.
And it's difficult to answer without seeing your syntax file and the data file.
As the data file is a plain text file you may remove all lines except ten or so, but leave the lines where you see the issue.
Then send it.
In most cases it is a problem of the syntax file, that you changed something accidentally.
With the default options and only adding the file path to the syntax file you should get everything.
BTW: I hope your scale is not coded "A1", "A2",...
And the scale_export:
This is an attribute of the variable, which you set in LimeSurvey.
This is to override the automatic guess.
E.g. if you want to force a "scale" where LimeSurvey would handle it as "ordinal"
