I have a survey created and what I want to do is have access to from the frontend limited to users who have a login and password.

This survey is not a public survey - data will be entered into by the interviewer so I want the interviewer to login and enter data as he gets information from the interviewee. There will be 1000 interviewees (possibly) and approximately 8-10 interviewers. So the first question is:

1. Is this even possible?
2. If yes, then how do I do this?

I have created users in the admin of limesurvey (which is installed on my server) and have linked them all to the survey in question.

My url for limesurvey admin is: mydomain.come/lime/admin
My url for limesurvey frontedn is: mydomain.come/lime - this is where surveys are listed after "publishing" or "activating" a survey.

Now, can I have the interviewers come to the frontend website, click on the survey in question and then be asked to login to access it?

Thanks
Bijal

Use tokens for the surveys.

Hi Bijal,

I'm not a developer but have been using LimeSurvey for quite a while now and we have had the requirement to do something similar.

I do not believe that there is a way to authenticate people using a username and password. The only way (I can think) of doing is to add your interviewers as 'Participants' to the survey. You can then create tokens for each one (either randomly or you can specify a token). The token will then act as a unique password for each interviewer.

You can either email all the interviewers individually with the generic link to the survey and tell them their unique token to enter or you can use the Send Invitation Email in LimeSurvey to send out the link with the token in.

If you do use the participant table to restrict the survey to your interviewers, just make sure that they are able to fill out the survey multiple times.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Nick

Hi,

It is not possible to handle it with LS out of the box. Still I have done customizations for doing that in the past. Please contact me at gabriel@encuesta.biz so I can show you.

Thanks

So from what I understand... If I have 10 interviewers
  1. I add them all as participants
  2. create 10 tokens, 1 for each of them
  3. allow each of them to do the survey multiple times.

I will try and let you know how it goes...

thank you so much for the detailed answer #So from what I understand... If I have 10 interviewers

Yes that's correct, and not a problem at all.

allow each of them to do the survey multiple times.

Or you can allow any token to create any number of surveys : mean create a new response each time accessing the survey.

You must
1: Uncheck Enable token-based response persistence
2: Check Allow multiple responses or update responses with one token

Tokens with multiple responses per token will do it as Tpartner and Dennis said. Sorry. I was thinking about a different situation
