Emoji in text fields? was created by rcha88AA
When I enter an emoji in a text field, for example, the end message box, the emoji displays ok until I save the changes.
It gets converted to '??', and this is reflected in my survey.

If I manually enter the emoji via codepoint in html in the text box source, like this:
Code:
<p>&amp;#x1F354</p>
then save my changes, it gets converted to my emoji - good. It is also displayed correctly in my survey - good.

But if I click 'save changes' once more on the text box, the emoji gets converted to '??'.

So, my current solution would be to only add the emojis (and manually in html) after I am 100% certain on all text entered but that's not very practical.
Is it possible to stop LimeSurvey from breaking emojis?
Or is there anything I can do to use these normal standardized emojis, without having to rely on css, images, etc?

Thank you for all your help.

Sorry, I would have given if it was a 'bug', I assumed it was due to LS simply lacking the ability:
Version 3.14.9
Windows Server 2016
LS says the database driver is 'sqlsrv', I believe we are using a ms database, I don't have more details now but I can ask for them.

If you think the problem is some database setting, I can pass on some information to the people who set up the installation.
Thank you

We fix it for mysql during 2.05 version if i remind.

I just check with sqlsrv : seems there are an issue : you can report it. But since it seems to be specific to sqlsrv …

EDIT : checked without HTML editor : seems to work

Thanks for the reply Denis.

Sorry, I am confused about your edit. So you confirm there is no issue with sqlsrv?

For me it does not work in the text editor (of the 'End Message' box), if I add via the WYSIWIG tab, or the Source tab. - When I 'save changes', it turns the emoji into '??'.

If this looks like a bug I can open a ticket.

I start checking on ONE server (IIS + sqlsrv)

1. Have issue on welcome + description with HTML editor activated
2. Don't have issue with question text + HTML editor deactivated

Best is to test yourself the 4th part after upgrade to 3.17.2.

1. Welcome + HTML editor
2. Welcome + no HTML editor (HTML editor in popup)
3. Question + HTML editor
4. Question + no HTML editor

And report the issue on our bugtracker after with all this information.
