How to exclude mandatory for a part question? was created by adrotto
Hi everyone,
I was wondering if it is possible to exlude the mandatory-setting for one part of the question even though in general the answers are mandatory.
In that case for one part question "others" the mandatory-setting should be excluded, because it is not necessary to answer it. In the attached Picture you can see it as the last yellow marked option in the question.
Does there exist a html-code which I can put into the edit box of this part question?
Thanks in advance for your answers.

Looks like a very old version of LimeSurvey. Not possible without workarounds. To get suitable workarounds you should provide the exact version of LimeSurvey.
First idea for a workaround: Use the validation equation instead of mandatory.
The question options should provide a field for such a validation.

I use Version 2.05+ Build 140821 as a Student license
Do I can change the validation equation in the general settings of the question? What kind of equation I need to put in?
Because the settings of the part time questions are limited (see attached Picture), that's why I asked for the html-code as a Workaround.

Hi,
I tested in 2.06. I think it will work in your version. EM was introduced in version 1.92.
What is a "student licence"? Is it an university installation? There might be some right restrictions.
To answer your question:
Set the question to "not mandatory" and the question validation to:
(count(self)==6 and count(self.sq_SQ007)==0) or count(self)==7
And add a appealing tip; so it is fine.
On the other side I never know why people want to have an "Other"-option in a matrix.
In my opinion respondents usually do not select "Others" and rate it "seldom" or "never".
So you get a bias and means are not comparable.
And furthermore you do not know, which "Others".
What is the meaning of "54% look for other informations daily"
Therefore I prefer a following open question like "Are there other informations ... which you look for ... frequently?"
So after the pretest you might get some "other informations" which are worth to be included as a precode in the matrix.

To answer your question:
Well, you have to check, that either the number of answers is 6 (and the "Other" is empty) or the number of answers is 7.What kind of equation I need to put in?
