Need help with reporting percentages was created by evinsmj
Hi, everyone!

I'm having difficulty understanding the percentages when I export a PDF report of my survey results. I attached a screenshot of one of the questions. The total number of responses in this export/filter is 732 (100% of the total responses).

As you can see from the screenshot, the percentages don't seem to correlate. For answer selection "1," there were 6 people who selected it. If that number is out of the total number of responses (732), the percentage would be .82%. Answer selection "3," the percentage would be 4.92%.

I even tried using 563 as the denominator (total number of responses without "no answer" or "not displayed") as well as 580 (total number of responses, including "no answer"). None of these line up.

Can someone help? Thanks!

Matt

What version of LimeSurvey do you use?
The reporting looks buggy. Mean and deviation with 0 looks buggy to.

Personally I never used the reporting tool for anything serious.
I recommend open a bugticket and post the link to the bugticket here in the thread.

Hi,
yes it's obviously a bug, or somebody had an interesting idea, that it's a feature.

All values (1 - 6) are calculated on a base of 715 (563+152)
"No answer" and "not completed" are calculated on a base of 732 (563+152+17)

Now the sum of "percentages" is 101.83

I do not understand this.

IMO mean and standard deviation are not calculated in single punch questions, only in numerical questions.

Thanks, Joffm. I'm not sure why 1-6 are calculated on a base of 715. I would think that we'd only care about 1-6 based on those who actually saw the question, so it'd be 563+17 (580). I would also think that for "not completed or not displayed," we'd care about that percentage based on the total number of responses (732).

Well, it's an academic question.
What is the base?

All respondents with an additional row "not applicable"?
All respondents who saw the question?
All responses without "NA"?

Each client has different ideas.

Personally I'd always prefer the 580.

As it is the 2.x branch I don't expect that there will be any bug fix. But let's see what they say on the bug tracker.

That's what I'm wondering also. I'm using their hosted platform though, so how can I get an update?
