Q1. What kind of position are you applying for? [Option "Other" is turned on]
a. Operations
b. Marketing
c. Finance
d. Other [comment box] - (This is the checked option and the person fills Programming inside the comment box)

Q2. How many years of experience do you have in -oth-?
a. less than 1 yr
b. more than 1 yr

Currently when I run the survey Q2. is displayed as "How many years of experience do you have in -oth-"

Instead of -oth- it should display as anything they write in the comment box of Other in Q1.

Q2. How many years of experience do you have in Programming?

and not

Q2. How many years of experience do you have in -oth-?

How do I set it up like this?

A similar question has just been answered this week I think. Can't remember the exact code.

What code are you using currently?

Maybe this helps: manual.limesurvey.org/Expression_Manager#Qcode_Variable_Naming

to find out how to access variables it is always helpful to look at the survey logic file.

I answer at the LimeSurvey forum in my spare time, I'm not a LimeSurvey GmbH employee.

Hi, i'm still confused.

If you code it as

a. How many years of experience do you have in {Q1_other} it would only take insertion from other right? What if they selected another option in Q1?

Or do we have to create 2 different questions as Q2_a and Q2_b, one for normal options and one for the other option?

You can use a if clause. if other is empty, you display Q1.
Compare this thread (which holch already mentioned) and look at Tony's post
