I can see the news tomorrow: "Open source developers invented the time machine".

Who needs a tool for online surveys when you can go back in time? ;-)

You can be sure that the final LS 2.0 release will be publish on the website!

If you don't trust the website, go to the download section. As long as the latest version is something like RCx the final version has not been released.

I see thanks.
We are migrating data from one server to another and at the same time we want to upgrade to limesurvey 2. But we need to do this the latest in 2 weeks. :pinch:
I have a few questions:

Do you think this will be released in less than 2 weeks?
Is it too risky to migrate production data to this newly released version?
Can this be installed on a windows server without hassle or Linux is strongly adviced?

thanks!

I am not deep enough in the process to give details about release dates. It was scheduled for the 12th, but obviously there came something in between. I'd say that chances are high that this will be released within the next 2 weeks, but there is no guarantee.

I would recommend to go for 1.92 on the new server and then once LS 2 is out let it run in parallel. Once you have configured and tested everything correctly you can make the switch. I don't see any problem to run both versions in parallel.

Regarding Windows Server vs. Linux: LS is supposed to run on Windows Server as well, but from what I see all developers develop on Linux servers, so I assume that Linux is the better choice.

Linux (or other Free OS) are allways the best solution ;).

And for a web server, clearly Gnu/Linux is the technically best solution.

Well, I agree, but I wouldn't want to start any flame war. Some prefer MS Server for whatever reason. I would go for Linux, yes.

OK thanks for the advice!
I guess it's wiser to stay with 1.92.

Probably need to see the stable version running for a few months before we migrate to it.
