Longer admin session was created by Blaise
Hello

I use Version 2.05+ Build 140302 of Limesurvey on localhost, Mamp 3.0, PHP Version 5.5.9

I am looking for a way to leave the admin session on idle longer, not to have to re-log every time I work outside of Limesurvey for more than a few minutes.

I understand I have to fiddle some PHP files in order to do this. Am I right ?

If so, which PHP file should I look at ? What is the name of the variable to be changed ?

Thanks a lot.

Thanks for your quick answer, Denis.

For what I understand from the link to PHP documentation you suggested, I have to change PHP variables.

I thought I should change something in the PHP.ini file, but there is no PHP.ini file in my surveys diectories.
I tried to increase WaitTimeout and InteractiveTimeout through Mamp phpMyAdmin server_variables.php
No effect.

So now my questions are related to 2 alternatives:
Alternative 1
I am right to think that a proper php.ini file could do the trick?
and if the answer is yes
Which variable(s) should PHP.ini set, in which directory would PHP.ini belong?

Alternative 2
which variable should I modify in server_variables.php ?

If none of these alternatives is viable ... well ... what do I do after I stop crying.

Thanks again, Denis

You can do in your .htaccess file (in LimeSUrvey directory)
Code:
php_value session.gc_maxlifetime "86400"
php_value session.cookie_lifetime "86400"

Thanks, Denis
Changing php variables did not lead to convincing results.
Probably I did not do it correctly.

Besides I found a workaround solution
It seems that the main roadblock was having 2 different surveys opened at ounce using MAMP.
I am comparing and making corrections on two distinct surveys, so both of them needed to be opened at the same time.
When one is distant and the other local, everything seems OK. It does the trick for the moment, will eventually find a more elegant solution.

So this topic is SOLVED, at least for now.

Thanks again, Denis
