I followed all instructions. But after completing the installation, I get a white screen on the link that I'm forwarded to:

survey.ef.wi.tum.de/limesurvey/index.php/admin/index

Thank you very much for any help!
Evelin

PS: I'm aware of the help notice below. However: Where and in what step do I need to set $rootdir manually? And what about this path: "/home/username/public_html/limesurvey" ? I don't now how to adopt it and where to use it.

After Database Creation

Blank Page after Database Creation

Symptoms

LimeSurvey installed OK, and database was created, but instead of the admin page, you get an empty page
Web surver log shows "Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /path/to/limesurvey/admin/login_check.php on line 69"
Fix

This is probably an incorrect setting for $rooturl or $rootdir in config.php. In particular, config.php attempts to set $rootdir correctly by calling dirname(__FILE__) and while this usually works, it can be upset when LimeSurvey is installed in a user's home or public_html directory and the home directory is mounted over NFS. Try setting $rootdir manually, and in particular, while your shell or pwd command may show a path like "/disks/hostname/home/username/public_html/limesurvey", try using "/home/username/public_html/limesurvey".

What version did you use? We fixed some installer issues today. Check www.limesurvey.org/en/forum/installation...te-to-the-last-build
The current release is 121115 and that should run installer fine.

Hi again,

using the new installation file helped me to get to the admin-login-page. However, "admin" and "password" didn't work. Using the database username + PW didn't work either.

--> What username and email-address do I need to recover my PW? I never entered any email-adress..

Thank you very much, again!

Normally if you don't change it admin/password will work. Maybe because of installation trouble something went wrong. Try to remove the tables that the installer created and your application/config.php and do a clean install.

What tables and config.php do you mean? Is it enough when I delete the whole folder using FileZilla? Thank you.

You probably need to use something like phpmyadmin to access your database. If unsure, you can delete the config.php and use a new prefix when on the database step.

The file is application/config/config.php

Yes, I needed to delete the entries "lime_" via phpmyadmin. Thank you very much!

Hi, I am having the same white screen problem. I tried reseting the config.php directory command with mt full real directory of install. But now am getting:

Page Not Found

Unable to resolve the request "survey".

The requested URL was not found on this server. If you entered the URL manually please check your spelling and try again.

If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster.

AND

Page Not Found

Unable to resolve the request "admin".

when I try the admin page. The PHP code in the admin directory also looks a little strange in that both php files try to resdirect to very strange URLS : /surveys/index.php/admin

I have build 121101.

Are these issues fixed in a newer build. This was installed by Softaculous so I am not sure how they get the releases or what to tell my Hosting provider to get.

Hi, I am having the same problem.

After the last step within the install process I am getting a white screen. The admin login page seems to function well but if I try to login with the default login data I get the message that the username and/or the password is incorrect.

I tried the install process twice but always with the same result. So I checked the database: All tables are created but they are empty!

I tried once with build 121207 and once with build 121127.

Hi again!

After hours of trying with different builds (also the last one 121209) I found the error (or at least I think this is the error). In the file application/controllers/InstallerController.php there is this line (625):
$password_hash=hash('sha256', $defaultpass);

This line is where the installing process fails. I checked my php-version but it fits (5.2.5 --> the function hash requires at least 5.1.2). So I think maybe it's a missing php module but php5-mhash is installed and enabled. Maybe there is another module required?? Does anyone has a clue what the problem might be?

I cannot imagine that it would fail at this command unless your server is terribly misconfigured. Question is what error message you get exactly? Can you see any error in the weblogs?

You can try to set debug to 2 in /application/config/config-sample-mysql.php to maybe get a proper error message during installation.
Best regards

Thanks for your reply.

The problem is: I don't get any error message - even not in the weblogs.

I set debug to 2 but still: no error messages - only a white screen.

Hello,

I too am having the blank page issue. I have been trying to install this app for about two days now. I originally started on an inmotion hosting account with the latest version 2. After nothing but blank page and being redirected to a url of mydomain.com/index.php?r=installer/welcome

After reading through the forums here I found the page with supported hosts so being I have a personal hostgater account I then tried installing version 2 on that account. I had the same exact thing a blank page. I then deleted all files and found that on hostgater within the cpanel i was able to do a quick install of limesurvey. I was then able to get to the 1.8 version and then within the page I did perform the comfort upgrade to 1.92. I really would like the latest an greatest so I attempted to delete all files and upload the version 2 and I have followed the directions here docs.limesurvey.org/Upgrading+from+a+pre...y_later_2.xx_version

I have just completed uploading all of the files. cleared my temp internet files and history and closed and reopened the browser both IE9 and Firefox and I am back to getting the mydomain.com/index.php?r=installer/welcome and it is a blank page.

I have tried viewing this or accessing the /admin page on a number of computers with various versions of both IE and firefox and all with the same result.. What is it that will not allow the page to load.

Completely frustrated...

Thanks
Paul

UPDATE..
I have edited the config-sample-mysql.php to reflect my previous installed version db info and have set /config /tmp /tmp/runtime to 777 and set debug to 2 and I still get a blank page and the view source of the page I am being redirected to (mydomain.com/index.php?r=installer/welcome) when trying to access mydomain.com/admin is:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
<HTML><HEAD>
<META content="text/html; charset=windows-1252" http-equiv=Content-Type></HEAD>
<BODY></BODY></HTML>

I have also viewed the error log an access logs and there is not even any reference to the limesurvey in the error log and the entries in the access log all appear to be normal.

UPDATE:
I found that even though I had uploaded the files with my ftp program set to binary that by uploading the file as a zip and then using the cpanel filemanager to unzip it was one critical step in being able to access the install page. Once I did that I had another issue where my hosting company had updated my version of php from 5.2 to 5.3 and my public_html was still using the 5.2 php.ini file and I was getting a PHP PDO library missing error on the pre-install test page. Once I copied the 5.3 php.ini file to my public_html pdo libraries were seen and the install went perfect. It then took me another hour to realize the read me is a little vague and when you add the db code to your drupal settings file that you actually need to comment out the default db settings.

Now that I have it installed and the drupal module configured correctly I tried importing a test survey and well not only did it look terrible it had a button and some text on the page within my drupal site that I would not use it in that manner. It also brought me to an error page when I clicked on the button to view the survey. The error may have something to do with enabling tokens within the survey but I think it may just be easier to wrap the survey in my drupal template and just use limesurvey as a standalone app instead of the drupal intergration.

peace,
