Hello,

I am trying to instal LS2.0 on my website hosted on hostmonster. However, when I get to the 4th step I get an error as in the attached file.

I've tried changing "localhost" for alternative host and IP, etc without success.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

H

Don't use a 'root' account as the user for your limeSurvey Database. Set up a new user for your limesurvey database via your website's CPANEL -> look for 'MySQL Databases' and create a specific user for your limesurvey database. You should 'grant all privileges' - hope that helps :)

Thanks for your reply pllmedia. I did as you mentioned and got to next step (see first attached) however when I press create database I get back to step 4 with the error showed in the second attachment without really showing what is wrong.
Any thoughts? and thank you again for your help....

I just did a fresh install of LS 2, build 120926 and had the same problem. The installer wouldn't recognize the database server. I had to just edit the config.php file manually. This may be a bug in the latest version?

Hi Fred, what changes did you do on the config.php file. I opened it but didn't know what to look for. Did it work for you after that? Thanks!

The data source parameters go in application\config\config.php

Here's what the section looks like

'components' => array(
'db' => array(
'connectionString' => 'mysql:host=localhost;port=3306;dbname=yourdatabasename;',
'emulatePrepare' => true,
'username' => 'dbusernamehere',
'password' => 'yourpasswordhere',
'charset' => 'utf8',
'tablePrefix' => 'lime_',
),

Hey there!

I just got this issue solved. I did as pmlmedia suggested. I didn't get it before because I didn't assign the created user to the created database. Then I did and just worked. Thanks Fred and pmlmedia...

cheers,

H
