1. Which Limesurvey version do you use?

2. How many data sets are there at the survey (roughly)?

3. What happens when using CSV export?

4. Please switch on debug mode by adding the following line to your config.php file:
$debug = '1';

Are there any additional errors reported on top of the page?

I assume that you are using either an old version of Limesurvey or an old version of Excel, where the columns were limited to 256.

So please inform your version of Limesurvey and your version of Excel.

i have 5 open surveys with average 11 groups with each group average 20 questions.
when i am using CVS i have the same result, it cuts off

both EXCEL 07 and 10 gives me the same results.

The reason is that the LimeSUrvey Excel export only exports a relatively old format which only supports up to 255 columns.

I think the best workaround is to use CSV export and import that file at Excel. Shouldn't make much difference.

I have the same result using CVS, I think the export function dont pass the 256 collums: (Exportresults.php ==>

if ($afieldcount > 255)[/color] {
$exportoutput .= "\t<img src='$imageurl/help.gif' alt='".$clang->gT("Help")."' onclick='javascript:alert(\""
.$clang->gT("Your survey contains more than 255 columns of responses. Spreadsheet applications such as Excel are limited to loading no more than 255. Select the columns you wish to export in the list below.","js")
."\")' />";

If you are exporting to CSV you actually need to mark all columns. By default only the first 255 columns are marked.

I don't think that there has been a change to the excel import in the 1.92 version.

However, as Excel perfectly imports the CSV files I don't see much need for the Excel import. OK, for some it is easier to go directly over Excel, but I think it is easy enough to import CSV to Excel.
