1.91+ 11804 Error Message: Could not instantiate mail function

I upgraded the survey and the tokens will not send out the e-mail. I have another older instance of LimeSurvey installed on the same server and same database server and that works fine.

Error I get: Error Message: Could not instantiate mail function.

I tried upgrading back in November and it did the same thing and I tried the newest evrsion and get the same error, but older versions work just fine.

1. Please switch on debug mode by adding the following line to your config.php file:
$debug = '1';

Are there any additional errors reported on top of the page?

2. Which email method do you use?

3. When creating a new Limesurvey admin user, an email with login information is send as well. Does that work fine?

I set debug 1, and still only get the attached error.

I had debug on the config file twice, update to say debug = 1, and got the following:

(Sending to token ID: 16)
•Email to terst test (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) failed. Error Message: Could not instantiate mail function.

Hmm, strange...

Summing this up, is it correct that you are running an older version (which one) on the same server with the same PHP version and the like and this older version works fine with the exact same settings?

I don't think this will solve your problem, but can you test different email methods?

Correct, I have version: Version 1.90+ Build 9642
I tried upgrading it and had to switch back to a backup.

I also tried a clean install with a new database and same issue.

I run PHP 5.2.5, thats the only thing I can think of, maybe I need to upgrade to 5.3.9?

Did you update manually or did you use the comfort update?

Can you set up a fresh, new 1.91 version, import a test survey there and test using the same email settings? Maybe something went wrong during update?!

The Comfort Update doesn't work from our Intranet, so I use the manual method.

With the clean install I did I created a new survey from scratch and still got the same issue.
