Siteground installation

5 years 4 months ago #66663 by ttxnds
I have a web site built in Joomla hosted on SiteGround. I noticed that LimeSurvey is an installation option with Fantastico. Has anyone installed LimeSurvey this way and does it work?
I am tempted to try to install it but it seems too easy, and not being a web developer, I am worried about somehow harming my site unintentionally.
Thanks for any advice.

Generally I would always prefer to install Limesurvey apart from those installers. I don't know how it works right now, but some years ago the installed versions were not always up to date and sometimes even modified, so that you couldn't upgrade to a newer version outside of those installers without a problem.

Installing LS by hand isn't a big deal, if you have installed webbased server software before. But even if you haven't, it shouldn't be a big problem.

This is a general comment, as I don't know SiteGround and haven't used something like Fantastico for years.

I'm not a LimeSurvey GmbH member. I answer at the LimeSurvey forum in my spare time. No support via private message.
