LimeSurvey is a php program, not write on asp.

MS SQL are OK, and IISS too, but i don't know for installation of PHP in IIS.

Assistance on LimeSurvey forum and LimeSurvey core development are on my free time.

docs.limesurvey.org/Installation+FAQ#During_Installation

there are a few references to the installation on a MS server.

However, I think it is best to go for a LAMP stack, instead for a MIMP stack. Most users (and developers) use linux servers with apache, mysql and php. So it is probably the best way to go for that. I don't know how much compatibility with MS servers plays a role during development.

I can recommend the XAMPP package from www.apachefriends.org

@Mazi: but as far as I know the XAMPP package from apachefriends is not made for production but for local testing, at least I recall something like that been written on their website. But that was years ago.

Do you also remember "why" they said so?

I looked it up and it is still there. You need to adapt XAMPP for productive use on a server for security reasons. XAMPP is basically developed to make the life of developers easier, which comes with some flaws in security. At least that is how I understood it.

The philosophy behind XAMPP is to build an easy to install distribution for developers to get into the world of Apache. To make it convenient for developers XAMPP is configured with all features turned on.
The default configuration is not good from a securtiy point of view and it's not secure enough for a production environment - please don't use XAMPP in such environment.

Thanks for clarifying. For testing it is great but as with all setups you have to take care of different security issues like not using the root DB user with no password, use strong passwords and the like.

Here are some Limesurvey related instructions: docs.limesurvey.org/Installation+securit...tions+for+LimeSurvey
