There may be some licence issues with future versions of CodeIgniter so the dev team may need to explore alternatives.

Ups, seems like moving to Codeigniter was not a good idea...

Well, I don't know much about this license stuff anyway.

Hello,

Mazi wrote: Are there many Open Source projects supporting Oracle?

Are there many Open Source alternatives to LimeSurvey anyway? I tried to find some other Open Source Survey Tools but there aren't much. For my client only Open Survey Toolbox seems to fit their requirements but it has to use a MySQL database and is not mature/active enough for using in our company.

But even if the ADODB driver works properly it is not said that the queries are working correctly because oracle has a slightly different syntax.

Hello,

I think Mazi want to know if there are other CopyLeft projects supporting Oracle.

If yes: we can take some example, adapt some code (better in php).
If not: maybe it's too difficult to make connexion betwwen Oracle Database on GPL projects.

When we look at php.net/manual/en/ref.pdo-oci.php there are a big warning message.
We are less dev's at LimeSurvey than PHP-pdo. We can't do more than a big dev's equip.

I assume that very few open source projects will cater for a connection with Oracle. This has probably to do with philosophy on one side, but also with lack of experience in Oracle data bases.

I don't know any open source survey project (there are not many, especially active ones anyway) that support Oracale DB. Usually it is MySQL and if you are lucky Postgre or something like that.

I guess if your client makes Oracle the requirement, then there are only two options:
- dive into Limesurvey code and program it. While it doesn't seem to be a huge demand, it would probably be a nice thing for Limesurvey to be able to use Oracle.
- you will need to go for a commercial package. But even there, most of the packages are SAS.

I also didn't read many requests about connecting Limesurvey to Oracle.

If you really have to use Oracle than a lot of coding has to be done to add Oracle support at Limesurvey.
I don't know of any other Open Source survey tools that support Oracle. There aren't many alternatives and Limesurvey is the market leader.

vlad, any news on this? Did you succeed to set up Limesurvey with Oracle?

Does it work properly?

Are all features supported?

How was the implementation done? By re-writing lots of the SQL queries?

Hi

I could lift LimeSurvey supports Oracle OCI8 thanks connector,

a task has been really brutal, because they have to rewrite almost all queries, but still needed to complete this enormous task.
